Bloganuary – Day 10

Has a book changed your life?

Too many to count! So many different books have changed me in different ways.

Two came to mind instantly so I wanted to share both:

Dune

I absolutely love the book Dune. I loved the story, the world, the lore…and this quote is my favorite ever:

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

Frank Herbert, Dune

I know fear holds me back. Fear is the mind killer.

Chicken Soup for the Soul

I read volumes one and two as an elementary or middle schooler? I share this book specifically because it held a little spot in my heart/brain there for a while. I read it during a really dark time and it really helped (a lot). I’m sure I wouldn’t enjoy it now as an adult and knowing where I am now. Still, it changed my life in a very specific way.
